Atalanta will take advantage of Inter’s fatigue
Inter won the first of two possible trophies on Wednesday. "The Serpents had trouble beating Fiorentina 1-2 in the Italian Cup final. "The Italian champions took the lead as early as the 3rd minute but Martinez converted a brace to put the final score level back in the first half. Florentines spent the rest of the meeting trying to get back into the game. Jovic had some great opportunities but his Italian team simply lacked class. Inter are sitting in third place in the league table with 66 points. Simone Inzaghi's charges are two points ahead of AC Milan and five points adrift of Atalanta. In the last matchday, Inter suffered their first defeat in a long time (nine meetings). The Serpents lost 3-1 to Napoli. It should be noted that the Nerazzurri were held penalized for the entire second half because of Gagliardini's red card. Napoli scored the winning goal in the 85th and 90+4th minutes, but it does not deny their dominance throughout the game. Inter face Torino and Manchester City ahead of them. Atalanta are in fifth place and three points behind the cherished fourth place. The Bergamaschi have already guaranteed themselves a European title, but can qualify for both the Conference League and the Champions League. Defeats to Salernitana and Juventus have made the team's season finish a little more difficult. Before them, the Goddess beat La Spezia (3-2), Torino (1-2), Roma (3-1) and shared points with Forentina (1-1). However, a win against Verona in the last round should put the team back on the winning track. If they are to progress into the top four, they must win twice and wait for the Milan clubs to make up ground. Although Inter have beaten Atalanta in three of their last five meetings, the Serpents have never beaten them by more than one goal. It is highly likely that this trend will continue in this meeting. "The Nerazzurri are obviously exhausted and it will be difficult for them to fully recover from their encounter with Fiorentina. At the same time, for Atalanta, this game is their last chance to try and climb into the top four. Gian Piero Gasperini's side must try to make the most of this opportunity.
