Toulouse and Annecy are poised to cause a sensation by reaching the French Cup final.
In the semi-finals of the French Cup, Toulouse will play away against Annecy. Hardly anyone would have guessed that these teams would reach such a high stage of the tournament. And now they have a real chance of making it to the European competitions. There are only two steps to go. In the league, they have nothing to look forward to, sitting in 13th place, and won't move much further from there. The French Cup, on the other hand, offers unique hope. In addition, their opponent for the final is not that impenetrable. Annecy, on the other hand, are in danger in Ligue 2. They are in 15th place, but only a couple of points clear of the relegation zone. And it hasn't been playing its best in recent matches. It has won only one of its last six meetings, and that was against Marseille, which went down in the penalty shoot-out. The main time of the match ended with a 2-2 draw. Then, Anse were defeated by Metz (0-3), Grenoble (1-2), drew with Gengam (1-1) and were thrashed by Nîmes (0-4) in the last match. Of course, the game against Toulouse will be a major one for Annecy in recent years.
