Northern Regional League representative will put up a fight against Leipzig

The final days of July this year saw the 1/32 finals of the national cup on German soil. Leipzig and Bayern did not play their matches as they had faced each other in the German Super Cup. There was a veritable rain of goals in that game, which ended in favour of the Munich club (5-3). The German football leaders will play the missed games on Tuesday and Wednesday. First up is Leipzig, who enter the tournament as the reigning winners. Their opponents are from the Northern Regional League, who lost to second-placed Hannover in the Second Bundesliga on Super Cup day. Teutonia Ottenzen is a team from the city of Hamburg, where the club of the same name and St Pauli have always been at the forefront. The Teutonia were founded in 1905 and have played at regional and city level for most of their history. According to specialist website transfermarkt, the entire Hamburg squad has a transfer value of €1.75 million. Teutonia Ottenzen finished third in the North Regional League last season and subsequently only seventh in a group of ten clubs in contention for a sole promotion to the Third Division. Leipzig's squad is around 275 times more expensive than that of their rivals, costing around half a billion euros. The Bulls strengthened the squad in the off-season, bringing back Timo Werner from Chelsea for just €20 million and shelling out a combined €38 million for Schlager and Rauma. Despite this, Leipzig only picked up their first win of the season last weekend when they beat Wolfsburg at home. Prior to that, the team had failed to beat Stuttgart, Cologne and Union Berlin in three consecutive Bundesliga fixtures. The Bulls' level of readiness for the season can be assessed as average. Of course, against a weak opponent, Leipzig do not need the highest level of playmaking ability to win. That said, we shouldn't expect an extravaganza from the favourites, as Leipzig travel to Frankfurt am Main in a few days to face the difficult Eintracht. Most likely, the Bulls will be satisfied with a comfortable scoreline with a couple of goals or three to go through to the 1/16 finals.
