Verona will try their best to pick up points at the San Siro
Verona put themselves in a very difficult position. Ellas hosted Empoli at home in the last round. The visitors, it should be noted, had long since secured their place and had little motivation for the encounter. "The Mastiffs were in no hurry to open the scoring, but played well. In the 61st minute, Gaic scored what looked like a goal that would lift the team out of the relegation zone. However, the Jaloblu failed to maintain their advantage, conceding what could be a decisive goal on 90+6 (!) minutes. Although Zaffaroni's side are now equal on points with Spezia, this does not give them any advantage. The odds before the final matchday are as follows: Verona need to pick up points and hope the Eagles score less. It's worth noting that Hellas have been playing pretty well in their recent away games. Thus, in the past five meetings, the team have lost only twice and shared the points on as many occasions. It is noteworthy that a dry draw with Napoli was registered during that period. In addition, the Mastiffs were held to a 1-1 draw with Cremonese, a 0-1 win against Lecce and defeats against Atalanta (3-1) and Juventus (1-0). The defeat at the hands of Bergamo was, however, somewhat unfair. Verona played well, but Montipo's personal mistake sealed the outcome. After three defeats in a row, Milan got two wins. These successes were enough to ensure their place in the league next season. Last weekend, the Italian side beat Juventus narrowly, in very conservative fashion. Before that, Stefano Pioli's men thrashed an unmotivated Sampdoria. Interestingly, between the semi-finals with Inter, Juventus were thrashed by Spezia. Back then, the Eagles were able to beat their opponents thanks to two late goals. Will the Italian side take revenge for some hurt feelings? The first leg ended in a 1-2 win for Milan. The Rossoneri managed to snatch three points thanks to Tonali's goal in the 81st minute. It is obvious that in this game the motivation of the teams was completely different. While Stefano Pioli's men are in no need of anything, for the Jaloblu even a draw could be life-saving. Verona will fight desperately for any points in this encounter. If the team does concede, it is unlikely with a big goal difference. They will not be forgiven for such a lacklustre performance.
