Bookmakers have picked the home side as the favourites, offering odds of 1.38 to win. Since the match in Leipzig, Manchester City have played four official meetings. It cannot be said that the four wins in them are in the slightest doubt, but the opponents were far from the most stellar: Bournemouth, Bristol City, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace. Only the latter were beaten by Guerdiola's men with minimal difference in the scoreline, scoring the only goal of the game on penalties in the final quarter. The City's systematic successes give them a two-point lead over Premier League-leading Arsenal, with one more match played than the Canaries. The mood of Manchester City's players for their upcoming opponents will obviously be combative.
