Eintracht take on Napoli in the first leg of the Champions League last 16. The meeting will take place on 21 February in Germany. The signings between Eintracht and Napoli fall slightly short of the Champions League play-off level, especially against the backdrop of Barcelona and UEFA Europa League, but don't be too quick to jump to conclusions. Both clubs are very good. Napoli are unchallenged in the Italian league (18 points gap). They are now 20 wins away from home in 23 Serie A rounds and on course for the title. The Neapolitan leaders are in top form - attacking midfielder Hvija Kvaratskhelia, well known to RPL fans from his performances for Lokomotiv and Rubin, and forward Victor Osimhen. The latter is so good that he could soon find himself at Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United. Before travelling to Frankfurt, Napoli were confidently beaten 2-0 by Sassuolo. Luciano Spalletti's team have taken another step towards triumph in Serie A. Now they need to turn their attention to the Champions League and do their best to qualify for the quarter-finals. Eintracht are reigning Europa League winners. Last season, the Germans knocked out Barcelona on the way to the trophy, and now they've deservedly made it to the Champions League play-offs. In the German championship, the team are also actively fighting for places in the top 4. Randal Colo-Moiney, who nearly made France the world champions, is establishing himself as the team's main star. At the moment, the club from Frankfurt are two points behind the coveted fourth line. Eintracht have already demonstrated their ability to take on some of the toughest opponents on the European stage. On paper, the Italians look like the favourites, but it's not all so clear-cut. Eintracht play successfully at home. We should also not forget about the Germans' cup spirit. The club handled Barcelona in the last UEFA Europa League. In Germany, it will be very difficult for Napoli to get a positive result. But the spectators will not be bored. They are in for a hot and exciting encounter. The visitors are obviously not going to sit back. The same can be said about the home team. Eintracht will go forward and try to score as quickly as possible. There is a high probability that both teams will score.
